Head down and short walks in this bracing weather - Thruscross and Grimwith Reservoirs are always good for wintry days with beautiful views and decent paths.

My silk collage art is now on display at Chantry House Gallery in Ripley, North Yorkshire alongside fantastic pieces by fine artists Emmerson Mayes and Richard Snowden. Current silk collage work has taken me away from my usual landscapes into the world of 'Creatures' in readiness for the next @ The Studio exhibition in Dacre Banks, Nidderdale. Photos of my main piece 'Eye' can be seen on my facebook page, both as work in progress and the final piece - it's based on butterfly wings but led me in a completely different direction, becoming the 'Eye'!

Am getting ready for the upcoming St Nicholas Christmas Fayre in Pateley Bridge, Nidderdale where I am exhibiting my 'Silk Paintings of the Yorkshire Landscape' at Grimaldi & Galloway Arts on the high street. The St Nicholas Fayre involves many activites and events around Pateley Bridge, from late night shopping and free parking on the Friday to special lighting displays on the Saturday & Sunday - the Nidderdale Online website has more details.

Going to visit the annual charity art exhibition for St Gemma's hospice at Leeds Grammar School today - I have pieces in but like to see all the other great work there too. It's open until 4pm Sunday 28th October www.st-gemma.co.uk. Would also recommend The Mercer Gallery Open Exhibition for a visit in Harrogate - my favourite was Margaret Morris's 'Weather Patterns'. Margaret is a Harrogate printmaker whose work I first came across at the North Yorkshire Open Studios a few years ago http://www.nyos.org.uk/Artist.aspx?id=70 - there's some great pictures on this page of her beautiful landscapes.

Now that my big North York Moors exhibition is done and dusted I can start to think about other projects. I've been rather taken by taxidermy fish in glass cases on ebay - there's all sorts of wierd and wonderful things on there! I seem to have a bit of a fascination with pike...so my aim is to move away from landscapes for a while and try my hand at creating fishes in boxes!
